About The Course Writer...

Christopher C. Bowers has a Master of Divinity degree and is an ordained minister. He has been a pastor, chaplain in medical and psychiatric hospitals, and completed a two year pastoral counseling residency at VIPCare, The Virginia Institute of Pastoral Care, Richmond. Rev. Bowers is certified as Member by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and is a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor in Virginia. He has over 16 years experience in the substance abuse treatment profession, including seven years with adults in residential and outpatient settings, and over nine years working with adolescents in residential treatment. He is a member of NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals, and has served on the Board of Directors of VAADAC as President, The Virginia Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors. He is the Editor of VAADAC Views, the newsletter of the Virginia Association, is a member of NAADAC's Adolescent Specialty Committee, and writes articles on adolescent treatment for Addiction Professional magazine.

Rev. Bowers is an adjunct instructor in the School of Theology, Virginia Union University, Richmond, and teaches a Substance Abuse Ministry course at VIPCare, where he is associate staff as Substance Abuse Specialist. He is also the developer of "The Use, Relapse and Recovery Journey Game," available through Wellness Reproductions & Publishing, LLC.
